MPO/MTP Trunk Cable

An MPO/MTP trunk cable bundles 12 or 24 optical fibers into a single multi-fiber push-on ferrule, condensing what would otherwise be a dozen separate patch cords into one connector. This density makes it the backbone of modern data-center structured cabling, where switch and patch-panel uplinks aggregate toward 400 Gbps. Runs of up to 300 meters are typical, terminated identically at both ends so trunks can be pre-terminated at the factory and simply plugged in on site. Common deployments include spine-and-leaf backbone links, high-density patching between rows, and breakout cassettes that fan a single trunk out to individual duplex ports. Pricing spans roughly $30 to $120 depending on fiber count, length, and single- versus multi-mode grade.
