Kupferkabel leiden unter mehr Dämpfung bei höheren Frequenzen, weshalb 40 Gbps USB4-Kabel kürzer sind als USB 2.0-Kabel. Glasfaserkabel haben weit weniger Dämpfung und ermöglichen kilometerlange Übertragungen.
