Halbduplex erfordert, dass sich Geräte beim Senden abwechseln, was den effektiven Durchsatz reduziert. Frühe Ethernet-Hubs arbeiteten im Halbduplex-Modus und führten zu Kollisionen. USB 2.0 ist Halbduplex — Host und Gerät können nicht gleichzeitig Daten senden, was die reale Leistung begrenzt.
