NVMe M.2 to USB-C Enclosure Cable
An enclosure-style cable that houses an M.2 NVMe SSD and exposes it as a USB-C 10 Gbps drive. The fastest portable storage option short of Thunderbolt.
Part cable and part housing, this enclosure-style adapter accepts an M.2 NVMe SSD and presents it to a host as a USB-C drive running at 10 Gbps. It bridges the NVMe protocol to USB 3.2 Gen 2, letting an internal-format SSD serve as portable external storage. At that speed it is the fastest such option short of a Thunderbolt enclosure, well suited to data migration and carrying large working sets. The bus supplies about 7 watts, sufficient for a single M.2 drive. A short 0.3-meter tail keeps the assembly compact against a laptop. Enclosure cables of this type sell for $15 to $35.
