## The Myth: 'All USB Cables Are the Same'

## How Cable Fires Happen

The physics: **P = I^2 x R** (power = current squared x resistance). A cheap cable with higher-resistance conductors and inadequate insulation dissipates more power as heat.

At low currents (5W phone charging), this matters little. At 100W (5A at 20V), a cable with twice the resistance dissipates four times the heat. At 240W (PD 3.1 EPR), a non-EPR cable designed for 100V insulation can arc.

## Certifications That Actually Matter

### USB-IF Certification
