El contenido HDR usa profundidad de color de 10 bits o 12 bits y espacios de color más amplios (DCI-P3, BT.2020) para producir realces más brillantes y sombras más profundas. HDR10, Dolby Vision y HDR10+ son formatos comunes. Los cables deben soportar el ancho de banda adicional: HDMI 2.0 maneja HDR a 4K@60Hz con submuestreo 4:2:0, mientras HDMI 2.1 permite HDR 4:4:4 completo.
