Jitter significa que los bits de datos llegan ligeramente temprano o tarde comparado con la temporización de reloj esperada. A 40 Gbps, cada ventana de bit es solo de 25 picosegundos: incluso un jitter mínimo puede causar errores de bit. La calidad del cable, alineación de conectores e interferencia electromagnética contribuyen al jitter.
