Le Mode Alt fait d'USB-C un véritable connecteur universel. Le Mode Alt DisplayPort envoie des signaux DP natifs sur les broches USB-C, permettant une sortie vidéo directe sans conversion de protocole. Les Modes Alt HDMI et MHL existent aussi mais sont moins courants.
