Duplex single-mode fiber patch cable with SC connectors on both ends. Commonly deployed in ISP demarcation points and enterprise patch panels.
Deployed widely at ISP demarcation points and in enterprise patch panels, the duplex SC-to-SC fiber patch cable uses the larger square-latch Subscriber Connector at both ends. The SC's push-pull coupling seats with an audible click and resists vibration, a trait that suited it to the carrier equipment where it became common. Single-mode glass carries 100 Gbps links limited only by the optics rather than the cord. Runs around 100 meters handle typical building and campus distances. Although LC has overtaken it in high-density gear, SC remains entrenched in service-provider and older enterprise installations. Patch cords cost $5 to $15.
