USB4 Versão 2.0: 80 Gbps e Além

A próxima geração do USB dobra a velocidade novamente e confunde a linha com Thunderbolt.

## 80 Gbps Symmetric, 120 Gbps Asymmetric

USB4 v2.0 uses PAM-3 signaling (same as Thunderbolt 5) to double bandwidth on existing USB-C cables. Asymmetric mode dedicates more bandwidth to one direction — perfect for driving high-res displays.

## Key Features

- **80 Gbps bidirectional** on new cables
- **120 Gbps asymmetric** for display-heavy workloads
- **Backward compatible** with USB4, USB 3.2, and USB 2.0
- **DisplayPort 2.1 tunneling** for 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz
- **PCIe Gen 4 tunneling** for eGPUs and fast storage

## When to Expect It

First USB4 v2.0 controllers shipped in late 2024 (Intel Arrow Lake). Expect widespread adoption by 2025-2026 in laptops and docks.

## Do You Need New Cables?

Existing USB4 40 Gbps cables work at reduced speed. For full 80 Gbps, you'll need new cables certified for USB4 v2.0. Thunderbolt 5 cables also work.
