DSC permite resoluções e taxas de atualização mais altas sobre cabos existentes comprimindo o fluxo de vídeo. DisplayPort 1.4 com DSC pode alimentar 8K@30Hz, enquanto sem DSC atinge no máximo 5K@60Hz. A compressão é projetada para ser visualmente indistinguível da saída não comprimida.
