A signal transmission method using three conductors to cancel noise, standard in professional audio.
Balanced cables carry the audio signal on two conductors with opposite polarity, plus a ground. Any noise picked up affects both conductors equally and is cancelled at the receiving end. XLR and TRS cables support balanced audio; RCA does not.
