It moves the signal in one direction, from the DP source to the USB-C sink, at up to 32.4 Gbps for resolutions as high as 8K at 30 Hz. The arrangement is common where a workstation GPU exposes DisplayPort outputs but the chosen monitor, often a portable panel, offers only USB-C. Because it relies on DP Alt Mode at the display end, that monitor must support the mode. A 2-meter length is typical. Cables run $12 to $25.
