An embedded conversion chip separates this active DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable from passive alternatives, letting it output 4K at 60 Hz with HDR to an HDMI 2.0 display. Active conversion is required at that resolution and refresh rate because passive DP++ signaling tops out lower. The chip translates the DisplayPort signal into HDMI regardless of whether the source supports dual-mode output, widening compatibility across graphics cards. The link runs from the DP source to the HDMI sink. A 2-meter length suits workstation-to-television and GPU-to-4K-display connections. The onboard silicon raises the price to roughly $15 to $30.
