HDMI Automotive (Type E)

HDMI cable with locking Type-E connector designed for in-vehicle infotainment systems. Vibration-resistant latch prevents disconnection while driving.

A locking Type-E connector defines this automotive HDMI cable, engineered for the vibration and temperature swings of in-vehicle infotainment systems. The latch mechanism resists disconnection while a vehicle is in motion, a failure mode ordinary HDMI plugs are prone to. Electrically it follows HDMI 2.0 at 18 Gbps for 4K at 60 Hz, feeding dashboard head units and rear-seat displays. A 5-meter length accommodates routing from a central unit to screens elsewhere in the cabin. Its ruggedized housing and locking design, rather than any bandwidth advantage, justify the automotive designation. Cables of this type cost $15 to $30.
