The USB PD 3.1 extension that increases maximum power delivery from 100W to 240W using 28V, 36V, and 48V voltages.
Before EPR, USB PD maxed out at 20V/5A (100W). EPR adds three new voltage levels — 28V, 36V, and 48V — all at 5A, reaching 240W. This enables USB-C to power gaming laptops and monitors that previously needed proprietary barrel connectors. EPR cables require e-markers and must be certified for the higher voltages.
