A timing signal that synchronizes sample rates between multiple digital audio devices to prevent clicks and drift.
When multiple digital audio devices (DACs, ADCs, interfaces) are connected, they must agree on exactly when each sample occurs. Word clock distributes a master timing signal via BNC coaxial cable at 75 ohms. Without proper word clock, devices drift apart causing periodic clicks, pops, and subtle pitch variations.
