Latency

Networking

The time delay between sending data and it arriving at the destination, measured in milliseconds.

For gaming and video calls, low latency matters more than raw bandwidth. Wired Ethernet typically adds <1ms, while Wi-Fi adds 1-10ms depending on congestion. Fiber optic connections have the lowest latency due to the speed of light in glass.
