USB 80 Gbps (USB4 Version 2.0)

Standards & Protocols

The latest USB specification doubling the maximum speed to 80 Gbps symmetrical over USB-C cables.

USB4 Version 2.0 uses PAM-3 signaling to reach 80 Gbps over existing USB-C cables certified for USB4. An asymmetric mode can push 120 Gbps in one direction. This matches Thunderbolt 5 speeds and supports DisplayPort 2.1 tunneling for 8K+ displays. Devices began shipping in late 2024.
