Strain Relief

Physical & Construction

A reinforced section where the cable meets the connector, preventing internal wire damage from bending and pulling.

Strain relief distributes mechanical stress over a larger area instead of concentrating it at the solder joints inside the connector. Cables without proper strain relief (common in cheap products) develop intermittent connections as internal wires fray from repeated flexing. Overmolded boots and flexible rubber transitions are common strain relief designs.
