DisplayPort connectors are the professional display interface standard maintained by VESA. The family includes full-size DisplayPort with its distinctive asymmetric shape and the compact Mini DisplayPort originally designed by Apple. DisplayPort 2.1 delivers up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth, supporting 16K resolution at 60 Hz with Display Stream Compression. DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C has made dedicated DP ports less common on laptops while maintaining backward compatibility.
DisplayPort (Full-Size)
Standard DisplayPort connector with a distinctive asymmetric shape and latch. Preferred on desktop monitors and graphics cards for high-refresh-rate gaming and professional video work.
Mini DisplayPort
Compact version of DisplayPort originally developed by Apple. Physically identical to Thunderbolt 1/2 ports. Still used on some professional monitors and graphics cards.
USB-C Alt Mode DisplayPort
DisplayPort signal carried over a USB Type-C connector using Alt Mode. Enables single-cable video output from laptops and phones without a dedicated DisplayPort jack.
